Why Hijab

Many may ask “ Why do you wear a hijab?” and you try to explain but they don’t get it, or some people may ask “ Why am I wearing a hijab?” occasion, ambience and environment is the key contributor to craft a true and corresponding response and a fair reminder is that you and your stand in relation to Allah SWT (God) is the core to explanationç

For Hodeeb, it means her love towards Allah and how she connects to Islam.

She said it is a way of obeying the orders that Allah has given us. If it is taken off of me by myself then I feel like a part of me is missing.

Hodeeb has also said that a woman wearing a hijab does not mean she is oppressed, it means the opposite actually, it often means that she is powerful and willing to show it. She also states that hijab does not stop a woman from being fashionable.

Different voices

Many different girls and women all around the world are wearing hijabs and not because they are forced to, it is because they want to. They want to show that they believe they want to show that they do in fact have a strong belief in Allah.

Hodeeb invited two girls to talk about their viewpoint on hijabs. The two students were Selma El Aouli, an exchange student from Morocco here for her senior year, and Haleemah Ahmad, a graduate student from Notre Dame’s Master of Global Affairs program.

They had very deep thoughted answers but what they both had said was that anyone should be able to choose not to wear hijab or to wear hijab. They should not be told why you did or why did you not as long as their heart is with Allah.

I can’t judge her. I don’t know what she has been through Hodeeb had stated

El Aouli, who does not wear a hijab, has explained that even though people can not see she takes her religion very seriously, and is connected to Allah through her heart.

Talking about the hijab she wants to look more into it before she wears one. I feel like I need more time.

Ahmad has explained that she started wearing a hijab when she converted to Islam.
When I wanted to be part of Islam, I wanted the complete package
When in  secondary school, she wasn’t allowed to wear a hijab with her uniform, and her parents didn’t want her to.
I had to be strong and not give up on my faith to be allowed to wear my hijab because it was really important to me to show I am not afraid.
