You can win with hijab! This is what the head coach of Iran's women's youth team, Katayoun Khosrovyar, said to the reporter of the English newspaper Independent. In the following, you will read a part of the text of the interview of Mrs. Katayoun Khosrovyar with this newspaper.
I have always loved Iran
I am very American and I only know that I am of Azeri origin. I didn't speak Farsi and I didn't even know where Iran is geographically, but I always loved Iran. In my final years of college, I was going to play professionally for a college team and it was my only chance to see my family and be with my grandparents. I took two weeks off and went to Iran, but I had to train in Iran as well because when I came back to America, I had to play professionally.
I came to Iran and saw a futsal team that looked like football. Of course, my body was stronger than the rest of the girls and I used to tackle and shoot, which made everyone surprised. Iran's system is also that when someone says something, soon the whole country will be informed and get information. This matter reached the ears of Shahrzad Mozaffar, the head coach of the team. They said that they want to form the first Iranian women's football team and counted on my help. I accepted immediately. The year was 2005. I left everything in America and continued football in Iran.
